Sorry if this is grade 1 maths, but my mind is blank.

I'm trying to describe a way to specify a set of consecutive numbers.
Basically I'm thinking along the lines of:

StartingPoint + delta
e.g. 1000 "+" 3 is the set of numbers {1000, 1001, 1002, 1003}.

In the mathematical universe, is there a noun to replace "StartingPoint" and "delta" ?

well for starters it's a arithmetic progression. Presumably you'd use 'initial value' and 'increment'?

[edit] oops, got my progressions wrong

David,

That sounds about right.

Looks like I better go back to elementary school.

"First term" and "common difference" are also popular.
