How is the corruption level in India ? I have given up on UP and Bihar. But how bad is it in Maharashtra and in South? I am out of India for last 5 years and do not know the ground reality. Hearsay sounded like, corruption is reducing in Mumbai/Maharashtra. Your inputs please(from those in India especially)..

What makes you to think that Pawar or Jayalalitha is better than Lalu ??

In one sentence, its same everywhere.

I really don't understand why people like to discuss Indian politics and other problems here on java ranch Meaningless forum.
I think there are other exlusive forums for these types of discussions.
There are problems in each country. The type and level varies. I don't see any other contrymen discussing about their countries politics and other problems here!
I have seen many threads like this one before..

I have lived in both TN and Maharasthra. I can't the corruption is at the same level as in UP and Bihar. Those people deserve a big applause for the height of corruption they have achieved.

Regarding TN or Maharashtra, corruption depends on more of whether or not you belong to the state. If you do belong to the sane state, then you pay lesser(bribe) than the guy from outside. Let's say it's more like a Corruption with a regional discriminatation. Atlest these guys have maintained a better law and order situation than the one we see in UP or Bihar.

I missed TN else I have been in all other mentioned states including Karnataka currently.

And I am shocked to see that corruption is at same level everywhere.

Oh Law and order, I have seen north Karnataka for 4 yrs, I know how well they maintaine law and order their and I have seen law and order in north MH (Jalgaon) and east MH, better call Vidarbha(Nagpur)also.

Well still there is a hope.

I have two friends working in government offices and they are too honest.

If they have done corruption, they would own everything that they want, but they are still living struggling middle class life.

When ever I feel down, I just talk with them and have cup of tea with them. I feel that they have some hidden power within.

It’s true that very less people are honest in government, but they are still there and making hope for the future.

Has Anyone noticed.
Offices that have honest superiors generally have less corruption lower down the chain

Not really true, If officers dont accept Bribe its just that the amount to be payed to a junior executive is more than the usual.

And i am from TN, and i have seen many cases of bribing. And far too much for a simple task.
