I was looking to start preparing for the SCJP but I noticed there are two different versions CX310-65 and CX310-66. The later CX310-66 is supposed to be a upgrade exam, and I read on the Sun FAQ that the upgrade is a shorter version that covers more of the newer topics. What exam is the first time taker supposed to take? Also, if CX310-66 is the correct exam then what review book should be used as I could not find one on amazon that covered the new one?

I could only find the a review book on CX310-65........

CX310-66 is an upgrade for those who have already passed older version of SCJP. If you're already SCJP certified, then you can go for it. The content is the same as CX310-65, but there are less questions. If you are not certified yet, you must apply for CX310-65.

The prerequisites written at Sun's homepage are wrong. It says "None", but it should be : "Successful completion of previous version of Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform exam".

Thanks! I got it now.

Just starting to study the material, and its very comprehensive. I am a junior at UIUC Computer Science and some of the material is very specific, we covered it in class but not really in this level of detail. Oh well, just gotta keep studying.

this is supposed to be a surprise, but it smells like a tiny ad:
