Here's an article from the NY Times about dogs that have had a 99% accuracy rate at detecting lunch cancer in patients by smell alone (Times is free to subscribe to):

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/17/health/17dog.html

It reminds me of another article from a few months back about mice they trained to be controlled with cameras and electric signals like small robots that can crawl through wreckages looking for accident victims such as in the coal miner situation.

Is the next great breakthrough in science going to be animal technology? Assuming the animal isn't harmed of course, which in the case of the dogs and mice is true.

Lunch cancer? Is this yet another study telling us our diet is causing cancer?
