I finally upgraded my cell phone ...

A couple of months ago I heard a sound that I thought was some sort of jungle creature or .... maybe a jungle cricket --- the sound was really cool.

The ring tones on my phone are all .... plastic ... And the idea of using a song seems stupid too.

The jungle cricket sound sounded really cool.

How do I get something like that?

I programmed my own odd melody using a diminished scale. (But then, I listen to Autechre.)

My wife says there is commercial software you can get that will let you play an MP3. i'll see if she can find out from the guy who has it where he got it.

The ring tones that come on this phone are all embarassingly obnoxious. I think today I learned why.

I thought the above tree frog sound was great. So I got it on my phone. But I couldn't make it play it for when there is an incoming call. So I called tech support. A half hour later I'm told that the software on my phone has to be upgraded and I need to go to downtown seattle to do it. Okayfine. Wait in line for ten minutes. The upgrade takes a half hour. Wait in line for another ten minutes. The top techie there spends 20 minutes trying to get it to work and finally says "it can't be done."

My only choices are the ringtones that you have to buy.

Now I know why they ring tones that come with the phone are so obnoxious.

It turns out that a new, fancy phone can play mp3's but not as a "ringtone".

Maybe this is an evil conspiracy so they can make more money selling the ringtones???!?!?

Hmm.. I doubt that. Then again, I dont know what phone you have so it's
hard to suggest a way to fix your "problem".

I payed 1 to get a ring tone for my first mobile phone (Nokia 3210). It
was the theme song from "The Good, the Bad and the ugly".

My current ringtone is the theme song - "Gonna Fly" from Rocky. Uploaded
it as mp3 via bluetooth to my Samsung D500.
