I found that many folks here using some external services like Google BlogSpot to post their blogs. How if we create our own blog service here at JavaRanch? I think many folks here would interest on that.

Check out http://radio.javaranch.com/. It uses the Java blogging software Pebble, which is written by JavaRanch moderator Simon Brown.

JavaRanch radio is not available for us, for Ranch Hands and Green Horns. Isn't it?

Nope, it's not. We're not currently interested in providing free hosting for member's blogs. Bandwidth costs money, you know. If you have a blog somewhere, feel free to link to it in your .sig!

I understood! But still have an idea. You can show some advertisements on those blogs, so you can gain money from it and the bandwidth will not be a problem so. In addition, you can disallow members to upload pictures directly to their blogs, which reduces the bandwidth usage. How is that?

Note: I have no any blogs, I'm just giving you a suggestion.

Generating revenue from ads isn't as easy as it sounds. Also, the more services we offer the general public the more stuff we have to maintain. So it isn't just bandwidth. Thanks for the suggestion though. It's a good idea. Just not feasible for us at this time. Our plates are pretty full with the new forum software.
