You are wrong if you are thinking so....

If you would be there they also could have thrown you from the Stage.....

I mean don't take it otherwise....

But this was not in the mind of aussies.....

They could have pushed anybody whoever be there at that time.....

Why the hell will I be on a stage with corrupt people like Pawar. The Indian media is making an issue.

Coming from an American who has no idea who Sharad Pawar is, I can guarantee you that the Aussies have no idea either and couldn't care less. From my perspective, without knowing who he was, all I see is a very confused looking man who hasn't listened to the stage director, standing in the wrong place. One wonders if he's suffering from Alzheimer's disease, or perhaps is terrified at being in front of a crowd, or is having a stroke. Because it's obvious that he has no idea what to do or where he should be, the Australian team has to guide him.

For those who don't know who Pawar is

1. He is Minister of Agriculture (Government of India)
2. President of BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India). It is the Indian cricket board.

To be fair, There was a bit of confusion caused by the stage director (Rameez Raja) at the presentation ceremony (from what I've seen from the highlights). He did mention all the awards and medals but forgot to ask the chief guest to present the Trophy to the winning team.

This triggered a bit of a confusion. As the Chief Guest, Sharad Pawar must have expected to pose for the photographs presenting the trophy. As a team which has won the trophy for the first time, Australians were pretty excited too. It must have been a situation like no offence meant, and none taken. but blown out of proportions by the media IMHO. No Alzheimers or stroke for sure.

I don't even understand why you guys are supporting the aussie cricket team. I just hate to see aussies winning, I don't mind Pakistan but Australian cricketers make me sick except Adam Gilchrist.

I have no opinion on Sharad Pawar, but as an Indian I feel damn insulted. Corrupted or not, he represents BCCI and don't forget he was once the cheif minister of Maharashtra and defence minister of India if I am correct.

And no wonder that even the diplomatic master blaster Sachin Tendulkar reacted to this. Come on guys, don't support the aussies...

BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) is probably among the richest sport governing body in the world. Such is it's finacial status that it can easily have 20 CA (Cricket Australia) under it's belt. Enough funds to run game on it's own even if they break away from ICC (International Cricket Commitee). And only due to it's financial poweress, it's THE board which "unoffically" dicdates most of the proceedings in world cricket(along with other asian cricket nation). Not surprisinly, with-in hours of that happening CA has declared investigation in this issue.

Aussies not knowing the President of BCCI is equivalent to you (or I) not knowing our respective company's CEO.

And yes, he did suffer from a paralytic stroke some time back and "he terrified in front of a crowd" , he is one politician who can talk to a village farmer at the same time be comfortable in a meeting with the CEO of an organisation.

Also someone who is decent enough to try put things at rest

From the link

Pawar decries controversy

"You are all blowing this out of proportion. It is true that all the Australian players had crowded the stage and that I felt a jolt.

"But that wasn't intentional. I have seen the footage myself. There is nothing to all this," said Sharad Pawar, BCCI President."

Some ppl need to mature, Quick, and I guess it's certainly not Mr Sharad Pawar.

Having seen the footage - he was in the way of the cameras, and the aussies 'gently' ushered him aside.

I hope they enjoyed their moment of glory, as the England team will retain the ashes (!!!) and justify their position as the worlds best team.

However.....

Even if it doesn't quite work out that way, the English media are already lining up the excuses.....

I for one am looking forward to the series down under, and if there is any justice (and the aussies REALLY do like themselves), England will retain the Ashes.

Hopefully the series will overshadow the unpleasantness from Pakistan - I hope those players can prove their innocence - the only drug worth taking to improve your performance has to be 'red bull' - how on earth do they stay focused for so long - even on one day games?

Just out of interest - how many think England will win the Ashes, and How many thing Australia? (just type Pommes or Aussies!).

All the best

I am not surprised at all. Australian cricket team has history of such a shameful act.

They are on top in cricket no doubt, but they are the worst behaving team on and off ground.

So just because he is worth crores.. he should be manhandled ?
Nice...

And "corruption" is not even the point in here... by that token everytime we cross a politician on street[not that it will happen] we should be trying to put a limb out and make them stumble.

The point is "Aussies" behaved in a "not-a-decent" fashion.

When it comes to ashes though, aussies will win. The poms I guess used up their quota of luc last time around

You said, I think Aussies forgot one important thing, they make money by acting in Indian ads, promoting products etc.

That implied that the Indian companies are making favours to the Australian players by letting them do the ads promos etc, without expecting any benefit in return.

In my general understanding, companies prefer to sign up with players, for their ads, whoose popularity can be a benefit to the company. Sure, they do pay huge benefits, but that's based on a carefully evaluated cost benefit analysis.

So Pradip, would you care to elaborate what did you imply when you said the Aussies forgot that they are making money by doing ads and promos.

Thanks,

Well, I think, he meant, Sharad Pawar might use politics and force companies some how, not to take australian cricketer in any ads... so it could be a huge loss for them.

But I too think, cricketers are not begging for it, companies need them and so pay them.

If public opinion is against someone would they like to see ads featuring that guy ? So majority of the Indians think that Ricky and others did not do the right thing companies will not go for Ricky and co. Popularity matters.
