Actually I have an updated servet which will take the UI values and it compares the existing values, if it finds any difference, it goes DB call and update. If it doesn't find the difference, it goes to the same page and will display message "no updates".

fine so far, when I refresh the same page, it's calling the servlet and doing the same this before what it does and eventually displaying the "no updates" message.

I dont want to go for this logic, I want to display the existing values with out any messages. how to avoid this?

If you want to display the existing values without any messages, then don't call a servlet which compares the existing values to something else and displays messages. Call a servlet which displays the existing values.

You need to employ the PRG pattern. See this article.
