Nice countertop, but the tile needs to be upgraded to match the style.

What's wrong with classic white? It matches the classic look of the rest of the kitchen nicely!

The countertop is shiny, modern, and expensive looking. The tile looks dull, dated, and cheap. The white-black combination, normally natural, gives it a "forced coexistance" feel. In a word, it's tense.

I can assure you that it's not just expensive looking.

The tile looks dull, dated, and cheap.

Must be an artifact of the picture. The tile isn't dull, and classic white tile will never look dated, but it was inexpensive (since I did the work myself).

"forced coexistence"?? That alone should get him ejected from most parties!

I looked at this photo the other day and it looked like a very nice looking kitchen. Then my work computer blew up and I am now working on a temporary one until a new one comes along. With this computer the contrast/sharpness or something isn't quite the same and the picture looks very different - the work top looks plasticy instead of marbley.

Goes to show how much difference monitor settings can make. Perhaps John Smith has monitor settings which show an unflattering view of the image.

Looks good, but we're totally hooked on our Tassimo!

It needs to become "greener", but other than that - after using it for several months - it's the coolest caffeine dispenser I've ever seen.

That's the guest room (where Eric will be staying should he ever come to visit).

The master bedroom has better thatch.

P.S. I'm enjoying a cup of Java Love as I type this. Mmmmmmmm.

That's good to hear!

I like the white tile. It's classic, clean, and sophisticated.

(By the way, David Lynch is now selling organic coffee. His slogan: "It's all in the beans... and I'm just full of beans.")

Speaking of David Lynch, have you seen INLAND EMPIRE yet?

I'm really hoping to see it first on the big screen, but the US distribution has been so wacky I don't know if I'll get the chance before the DVD comes out. (I mean, it showed in Tehran months ago, and we can't
see it here in Detroit/Ann Arbor?!)

ObCountertop: My wife managed to chip our granite countertop with a glass. I'm always secretly pleased when she damages or breaks something. That way I know I won't get blamed for being careless.

Wow, I didn't even know he had a new film out! I guess distribution is getting trickier for films that aren't mainstream (meaning able to cash in during the first week or two of a theatrical run). This might be the kind of film that takes some time to generate a buzz.
