I want to integrate forums into my existing application. We have a registration process on our site for the users

We need forums where the same user can be involve in discussion and post queries, responses etc

One option is I use php forums with comes with cpanel of the site where you hosted the application
But the problem would be that php forums uses its own database and we need to share the user name /pwd with our application because it does not make sense for users to register again.

Second option is I use existing java forums to integrate their code base with ours (I do not remember the name but I had seen this kind of application)

Suggestion needed from the gurus around here.
