Hi Cory,

Is it possible to use this pipelines architecture for an existing SOA application which faces performance problems, with less changes at the architecture level?

Definitely this is feasible, especially if you have reasonable well-defined functions in your current application. It is not hard to encapsulate existing application components as pipelines services, then you can scale them among multiple servers (or more powerful multi-core servers). In fact one of our early successes in researching the technology used a majority of the existing application code, and we were able to demonstrate 10s of times improvement in overall performance (with lower ongoing costs as well I might add).
