when Tomcat server restart is required??

If a web application is deployed in Tomcat Server and the server is running,while the application running, it need to be changed ,for every modification in application needs Tomcat server need to be restarted??.can anyone list out the modification which needs server restart??

Server configuration changes, like changing server.xml to configure a port or data source. Everything else I believe can be handled through redeploying an application.

There is no need to restart Tomcat just to restart an application.

Look through the Tomcat documentation for how to set up and use the Manager application.
