well i have tried the tool that comes with NetBeans, but using that i am unable to draw sequence diagrams mentioned in uml distilled book.
Then i tried AgroUML, same results. It seems either of notation is missing in the tool.

SO which is the top ranked tool free?

Hi,

If you are searching for free ware tools STAR UML is best and it can be easily downloadable. Else you can go for paid or licensed tools like RSA or RSM. RSA is good tool and supports both reverse engineering and forward engineering.

There is no good tutorials on Sequence Diagrams in UML. It depends on your OOPS and OOAD stuff. You have to identify the flow and control of the application. Then only, your diagram represents the sequence. Please go through the application design and UML 2.0

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
