This is what the Sun website says:
# Number of questions: 69
# Pass score: 68% (47 items of 69 questions)

I've seen posts here, where someone has mentioned passing as 62%, posts where someone has mentioned passing score as 42%, and posts where someone has mentioned that number of questions is 65. Can someone please clarify.

Hi !

Passing score for CX-310-230 is 42%. There is a mistake on Sun Microsystems web site.

regards,

Wow! Thanks MZ!

Obvious questions:
* How did it happen?
* How can it be corrected?
* When will it be corrected?
* Is there a way to get confirmation from Sun?

Just wondering why the pass score is low (42%) as compared to other exams. Is this exam extremely tough?

Compare to other Sun Java certification exams, this exam is a monster.

Wow! Isn't SCEA 5 Part I exam the toughest of them all?

Is the time limit mentioned on the Sun website (150 minutes) correct?

I haven't taken SCDJWS yet, but for me SCDJWS is much tougher than SCEA part 1 in terms of preparation.

Thanks for replying Kengkaj.

If possible, can you please let us know some of the reasons which made you think that way.

SCEA Part I exam wants us to focus less on the API/Annotation specifics, but more on the design/architecture concepts; i.e. less theory and more application.

Is SCJDWS the other way around (more of theory & API/Annotation specifics, less of application)?

My reason is based purely on the exam objectives. SCEA part 1 covers many topics, but the questions are high-level, studying only high level concepts of each topic is enough.
SCDJWS 5, however, covers LOT of topics (more than SCEA part 1), and we need to study each topic in detail. It covers XML Schema, WS-I Basic Profile 1.1, SOAP 1.2, WSDL, UDDI, JAX-WS, JAXB, StAX, SAAJ, REST, JSON, JAXP, JAXR, DOM, SAX, Security, WSIT and more.
