Using enum values without typing the classname?

Suppose we have:

 
enum SomeEnum{ FOO, BAR, BAZ }   

Is there a way to use those values without typing the classname each time?

  
// is:
 if (x == SomeEnum.FOO) ;

 method1(SomeEnum.BAR);

// want:

 if (x == FOO) ;

 method1(BAR);

  

If the enum is a separate file, then I can do a static import like

  import static SomeEnum.*;  

But what if the enum is an inner declaration in some class?
Is there a way?

It seems funny to have to put the enum into an external file just to be able to use it with less typing.

Well, sure. Just use name of the inner class:

import static Outer.SomeEnum.*;
