I have experienced this issue many times with brand new and old flash drives. It only slows down (very slow) the windows explorer (all hard disk drives). but I can browse internet smoothly. but if I click on start menu again it takes long time. I checked the CPU usage, it is 90% ideal system process. PF usage same thing very low.

I also do the scanning for viruses but no virus at all.

I have Windows XP SP3.

Does anybody else have faced the same issue?

You might have a faulty USB port on your computer. Have you tried the USB drive in each of the ports and does this happen in all of them?

The other possibility is that the USB drive is itself faulty - try a full reformat. Or try a different USB drive.
