what is the need for xml usage in AJAX. XMLHTTPrequest object is used to send request to server then where xml used.

XML is rarely used. Most developers return JSON or HTML mark-up.

Either the request or response can contain an XML body. As Eric says, most people don't bother using XML (although when integrating with existing infrastructure it's sometimes the quickest).
 
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
