Working with Head First Servlets & JSP ... It says that if you deploy them in a war file they can't be under the META-INF directory. If not in a war file they can't be under the WEB-INF directory. They also state, elsewhere, that the rules don't change when deploying with a war file. So, I think that if deployed in war file that they can't be under the META-INF or under the WEB-INF directories. Is that correct?

H Ken,

You are right. If you want to access the JSPs and HTML files directly, then they can't be under those two directories.

Frits

Also, if you are using good practices, you must use JSP pages as viewer components - your JSP files should NOT be directly accessible.
