client side and serverside validation

If I understand correctly struts provide both client
side and server side validation so that for someone
reason a validation error got slipped by the client
the server validation would still be able to catch it. To use the serverside validation, the developer needs to be nothing other than make his form-bean extend ValidatorForm and specify the validation rule in validation-rule.xml. No code is needed explicitly in ValidatorForm.validate() right because struts automated that by extracting the rule from the xml.
am I right?
