I have the location i.e the longitude and the latitude....how can i display this location on a map using google static maps or some other resource.? is using google static maps free? someone told me that it isnt free

Google Maps uses a JavaScript overlay feature. The full docs are on code.google.com. You'll need to get a license key, but it's free.The key is attached to a server URL that you supply when you apply for the key. I think you do have to pay if you make thousands of requests per day, but if you're that busy, hopefully someone's paying you for all that traffic.
