Hi,
Very new to Java (2 weeks) and have most of my background in Perl and other interpreted languages.

Working with Perl and Oracle you get very verbose and particular error message when something goes wrong

For example....

This is well good when you have quite a bit of sql in your Java code.

In java from the sql exception i just get the message and the number

Is there an equivalent in Java to the verbose and constructive error messaging that you get in Perl via a special module/api called DBD::Oracle.
I had a quick search through this forum and a good look on the web but could not find anything.

Cheers and thanks for any help.
