Hello ranchers,
after 6 years i finally became certified this week.

This is one of the best feelings i've ever had, i am very proud of this personal achievement, more since there was a time when i had it aparted and forgotten.

I started it in 2004. At the beggining it was a challenging project, each must, each doubt led me to hours of reading (basically this forum), studing and so learning.

It took me several months to build a deliverable solution, but two mistakes were made:
- Leave documentation to the end. This was my big mistake, since as you have noticed, english is not my first language, and documentation phase became very annoying and boring.
- Go beyond specifications. If you enjoy the experience is very easy to go futher that is requested.

Since assignment did not expire in those days, I put the project in stand by, and serveral years passed.

Well the reason i am here writing is an email sent to Oracle asking them for the validy of my assignment, since as you know, now oracle imposes an expiration limit to it. This is the email i sent:

My email to suncert_ww@oracle.com (22/08/2010)

Hello,
I downloaded my Sun Certified Java Developer assignment on November 2004 and I was wondering if it is still valid, and what are the steps I have to take to be certified.
I’ ve read since Oracle adquisition of Sun these procedures have changed and I would be very grateful if you could give futher information.
Regards,

Their reply (27/08/2010):

You actually have access to the assignment for 1 year from the date of purchase - not date of download. Please check your purchase confirmation email to determine your assignment deadline.
We would request you to mail us the assignment and essay as soon as possible, since the assignment process is undergoing a major change after the Oracle SUN merge. We will give you 60 days to complete your assignment but we cannot extend your deadline beyond that. Please submit the assignment and essay 30 Oct 2010.
Regards,
OCP Team

So i put hands on work, take several weeks off my job and recode the project with KISS principle in mind.

Well here are some points about my decissions:
- Cookie based 2-tier solution
- RMI factory, releasing orphan locks
- RAF based, no caching.
- Single threaded client GUI
- Not sortable table

That is, nothing new...

I would like to give you all a sincerely and big THANK YOU, for keeping this great friendly place so alive.

Special mention to Andrew (see you soon in SCEA) for his dedication, expertise and great communication skills.

Best Regards,
Oricio
