All

I know that K&B in their book state that Bitwise operators are not on this exam. My simple question is: is this also true for Bit Shift operators? Is Bit Shift operators covered on this exam?

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

The exam does not cover any bit operation since the Java 5 exam, the main goal is to provide high-level API and mechanisms to Java developers and bitwise operations are so 90's. But they can be useful if you really know how-to use them and where to use.

You might be tested on bitwise logical operators i.e. | and & (you need to know the difference between |, & and their short circuit counterparts || and &&)...

Yeah, there is it, i've forgot..

They might combine this with increment (some tricky questions increment before and after the variable identifier and using the |, ||, & and && to see if you know how them work) and probably with assignment too, some expression envolving these operators and assignments that evals to a boolean.
