The basic thinking behind FORM based login is:
1. You access a secured page
2. You are redirected to the form login
3. If authentication / authorization succeeds you are redirected by to the original page you asked for.

However, what happens if you just want to access the FORM login directly.
Well most JEE containers will direct you to one of the welcome files configured in your web.xml.

Is there any possible way to programmatic control what page you get redirected to?

Many thanks

Using Filter you can direct to the page of your choice.
