If it worked OK in JSF 1.2, it will work just find in JSF2. Or are you looking for things like how to use the JSF2 AJAX tags?
'Cause to tell the truth, I find the RichFaces AJAX support to be generally more easy to work with. Despite being originally designed for earlier JSF versions, their very abstractness makes them more targeted towards specific needs instead of implementation details.
