Recently I have developed a hobby of studying different types of fungus and other microbial activity.
However since getting a microscope is not feasible, I would like to know if there is some thing online which shows us microscopic zoom.

Something like this:
Get the slide(I am reffering to slides used in biology,they are made up of glass or plastic) scanned by a scanner,
use this image to feed into the program, and later see the microscopic parts of the image.
I know it might sound foolish but this is the best I can explain.
Do any members here have any ideas related to this or perhaps tried something like this?

The scanner has its limits. It will not be able to pick-up the micro-organisms on the slide. So, you will be zooming into the image and not magnifying the slide.

Why is getting a real microscope impossible?

Here is one that is fairly inexpensive.

I have not used it, just did a quick google.

@Rahul and Pat:
Thanks for replying.
I know for sure that this hobby of mine is very much short lived and gonna take me nowhere, so why to invest in such thing.

I cannot call this as inexpensive as in India 1$ is approx to be 50 bucks.
and so spending Rs.2000 is not a small price here.

If there is a college/school nearby, get to know some folks and request them to let you try your stuff when their labs are free.

PS : BTW why are you interested in this ?

@Rahul:
Well just a hobby.
Recently due to some damped bread slice, I found some fungal activity going on, so developed a hobby like that.
There is no luck where I can find a school
Well but then its a sort lived hobby.
Thanks anyways.

We call this idea "makin' pixels"

You see this a lot on TV - imagine it's a police show and they have a surveillance camera with a low-resolution image of the bad guy. Next the cops ask their computer geek to "enhance the image" - then you watch as one pixel magically becomes 4 pixels and then 9 and then 16, and voila! the image has become clear - the geek "made some pixels"!
