i want to take values from text fields and print them in a report format(only values with proper formatting).here is a prog i wrote which doesnt do anything once button is pressed.other progs are also welcome....

Please use JTable to design the report you need and then use your program to fill the JTable.

Check the below post, i suggest you use Jpanel and add print toolbar on top of the panel and update your text fields or tables in Jpanel.
When you press the print icon on your toolbar it should populate with the print dialog
