Hello, l have been preparing for the Scjp exam for a few months now. I was now going to apply for the exam. therefore i was wondering if i should do the exam now or wait so that i can try and get the certificate for 1.7.

Is the exam for 1.7 coming out soon or?

Soon? No. Eventually? Maybe. But Sun (now Oracle) has not updated the exam for every single Java version, so there's no way to be sure at this point.

I think its not much of a difference when comes to certifying in SE 6 or SE 7 standards. You would be considered equally good even if you decide to go forward with the SE 6 exam (even if in a month or two, the SE 6 exam comes into scene).

I can understand what you are concerned about, as sometimes back I was in your shoes (choosing between SE 5 or SE 6). But, at this if you are ready for a certification, then go for SE 6 without a pinch of doubt in your mind! SE 6 certification will still rock even if the SE 7 exam appears on the forefront (in case)..

I suggest contact Oracle for the information, no one here knows for sure and not available to do a check for you.

To my guess I think it will be a while, probably about a year or so for the OCJP 7 Exam available.

Good luck on that if you can wait...I wouldn't wait if I'm ready for the version 6, just take it if you're ready.

I can see the book of K&B is available on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Programmer-Study-Guide-Certification-Press/dp/0071772006 (but... This title has not yet been released)

I' am not ready por the exam 6 but 1 year seems too.. I am contacting with Oracle representative for this topic. Thanks

FYI:
"The development for the Java 7 certifications is just getting underway. We hope to be able to share timelines for the beta and exam releases in the very near future. You will hear about it here as soon as dates are confirmed!"
