I know this is a beginner's book but do you happen to touch on tools and software used for making creating Java applications simplier (i.e. Eclipse, NetBeans, ANT, etc..,)? Thanks.

While we wait for the author to reply, I found below from the sample chapters...

Appendix D, “NetBeans” and Appendix E, “Eclipse” provide brief
tutorials on NetBeans and Eclipse, respectively.

Till Date , Only NetBeans supports JDK 7 .For that you need to install latest version of NetBeans IDE 7.0 . Please refer below Link for NetBeans and JDK 7 Configuration.

Hi Hardi.... welcome to the Ranch.. Does that mean you can't develop Java 7 in Eclipse? Or you meant to say some thing else?

Starting from Eclipse Indigo SR1, Eclipse has Java 7 support. Indigo itself didn't yet.
