First, I don't want this topic to be about religion -- as that can degenerate quickly... please be considerate.

Anyway, places of worship are some of the most beautiful places that I have seen. In fact, whenever I visit some place new, one of the first places that I try to see are such places. To start, do you agree with me? And if you do, do you have some pictures of some of your favorite places?

Henry

One of the favorites I have visited was the shrine of Torreciudad, in northern Spain.

i agree. some of the best architecture is seen in places of worship. i mean, it's not like a house where the builders main concern is maximizing profit, it is about doing a "perfect" job. the same can be said for other things like music in the old days(Handel for example), and the wonderful illustrations and calligraphy in old hand-written bibles.

And if you think that the outside is pretty, take a look at the inside.

And BTW, everything on the walls and ceilings are mosaics.

I've been told it was Roman Catholic doctrine that there was but one true Church. Nevertheless, I haven't found anyone who could tell me its address, or even what city it's in.

I am an atheist so can't say much about places of worship. However I do remember seeing a documentary years back about a place of worship in India, where at the altar....is a mirror.
I found this concept very beautiful. Believe in yourself. God is inside you.

Why not? You can still comment on their beauty, the craftsmanship required to make it, or other aesthetic qualities, can't you?
