Why do you want to learn about them if you don't know what they are? Just idle curiosity? In any case, start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service

Hi Tim ! i dont have any knowledge of webservices and interviewers are asking for it. Thats the reason i want to know it. Its not a wrong thing to know what they are, if you know you answer it.

Hi!
As in many other postings, there is a nice web service trail at NetBeans.org: http://netbeans.org/kb/trails/web.html
Best wishes!

"Service Oriented Architecture with Java" authors Binildas, CA Malhar Barai, Vincenzo Ca isli ,this is the good book for the beginner, in this book first 2 chapter explained all the the web services concepts and the implementation of those concepts are given in the subsequent chapters. Total pages of this book is only 180 pages unlike other bookrivces book this is book is well organised for beginner and this book can be completed in a weekend and start to develop the Webservices.
