I am not really sure of the best way to go about this but let me explain my goal. I want the client to store reference numbers. Say the client passed an integer to the server and lets say the number was 1234. I want the server to send back the object that corresponds to 1234. I need the method to accept multiple clients at once.
With out any more to go on in terms of requirements, constraints, use cases, scale, etc., it sounds like a good case for a database. However, the "server" could take any form you need it to.
I figured a database would be the best way to go about it but I'm not sure where to start. There seems to be many different approaches to this and i was wondering if someone can show me the way. The client would start and prompt a user for login credentials (I assumed i can just create a database just to authorize logins) as the user logs in the client receives the object from the server.
