externalizing h:message style color in css

I'm trying to externalize my style for my errors. Since all errors I would like to appear red, they should use the same style reference. Am I missing something on externalizing the style for h:message?

This doesn't work:

client code: jsf/icefaces

<ice:message errorClass="errors" for="jobName" />

CSS

.errors {
   font-style: italic;
   color: red;
}

This is working:

<ice:message style="color: red;"  for="jobName" />

I didn't respond the other day since I'm not an IceFaces expert. But I recommend reading the IceFaces docs for that tag to see if errorClass is a valid option. You might only be able to use the more common "styleClass" attribute, instead.
