THE QUESTION IS:

"IF YOU WERE TO SHOOT YOUR COLLEAGUE TO SAVE THE WORLD, WOULD YOU?"

Anybody can give a shot.

Yeah! I like to shoot my colleagues even if the world isn't saved or no, I'd kill myself to avoid solving this problem

Ok seriously I don't know if this question is a variant of the Trolley problem, Or a concern about employee safety.

the trolley problem Is a very interesting problem, and there is no clear answer. However, how you approach the problem depends on how you deal with ethical problems. They probably want to listen to you reason out your answers

If their concern is regarding employee safety, then the correct answer is that violence in the workplace is never good.

While it may sound ridiculous, I think the Heisenberg's uncertainty principal works well here. You closer you get to such a situation the less certain you become of what you will actually do.
Sitting here on a computer, one can be certain of what he might do in such a situation but when one is actually in that situation, there is no telling what he will actually do.

So any answer is fine! Doesn't really tell anything about the ethics of that person.

The reasoning process that they follow tells you a lot about the person than the final answer.

Personally, I would argue that killing the whole world painlessly is better because there is no one left to suffer the consequences of the loss of the whole world. It's like poof.. Everyone's gone. No one misses anything, because everyone is dead. OTH, if you kill one person painlessly, you are causing suffering among his family and friends

The correct answer to a question like this during an interview is, "Thanks very much for your time. I wish you all good luck in finding a candidate." Life is too short to work for psychopaths.

The answer is:

It's highly unlikely that such a situation would ever arise (since I live in the real world and not in a comic book), and so I don't need to concern myself with it.
