The problem is what do you do with the game once you've played it once? Educational purpose served. And it's not fun, so no reason to play again.

I thought this topic would be about playing Dread Pirate with my boys, nieces and nephews. Very high stakes game with lots of tears and gloating.

When I was a kid, I once stepped on the board game dice, and the sharp point hurt like hell and I cried.

I don't think her intent was to make games to sell at Target with high replay ability. Her games are more like art or poetry. I've seen some kickstarter games that deal with some of these topics but in my opinion, they are distasteful. For example: Freedom: The Underground Railroad.

As time goes on, we are so removed from these events, we need tasteful, interesting, captivating, emotional reminders so we don't repeat history. I find her approach with tabletop "games" very interesting and ballsy.

Yeah, I thought that was the point of the game - make sure we don't want to play it AGAIN.

Gregg, are you married? If not ... damn, I forgot that I am married. Never mind.

Her book Challenges for Game Designers looks very interesting.

There is the whole movement called lousily "Serious Games", but this calls for a new thread.
