how to habdle login(Authentication) in android

I am creating app.So i handle authentication usng md5.when user enter username and password,it get usename and geth the relavant password from Database.Then convert the user entered pasword to md5.Then it match the password.is there any other good way or standard way to do this?

That sounds like the normal way to handle it. But MD5 is obsolete and should no longer be used - SHA-2 is the way to go.

Not following. What does a "rule engine" have to do with authentication? What do you imagine it do differently than what you described?

actually there is no difficult,but i need to know is there any standard(professional)way to do authentication?

Use SHA-2 and use a salt, and you'll be fine.
