Unless this requirement is mandated don't waste your time on it. Any time limit you apply can be bypassed by any competent Java developer even if he only has access to the jar/class files.
In addition to the ultimate futility Richard mentioned, I would add -with all due respect- that whatever you create for a school project is likely not worth a lot of effort to protect its code.
