Hi guys,

I am grateful to write this words here after months of looking into and preparing myself.

I passed my exam today with 76% score.

In general exam was tough. I finished the last question and had 5 minutes left for the review. Did the review really shortly, changed only 1 selected before question.

It is hard to summarize any question or topics but in general all was like in Mala Gupta's Book mock exam. I did not take any courses or mock-exam tests before.
For preparation I did the following:
- read SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Study Guide Exam (310-065) by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates(chapters 1-5 + 6(String, StringBuilder parts))
- read OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Study Guide (Exam 1Z0-803) by Edward Finegan and Robert Liguori
- read OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide: 1ZO-803 exam by Mala Gupta
- did all the questions thoroughly after each chapter and mock exam in the end of each book using paper and pen
(in general preparation took 3 months - 4 months - each working day about 1-3 hours, ~200 hours or something like that)

Is it a lot or not - not sure. What I know - it gave me a lot of Java Language understanding and I feel more comfortable with it now.

Thanks to the authors of this books and people related, you are great and doing a great job!

Hope my example will encourage all who reads these words to pass the exam.

Wish you a good luck with it.

Next step is OCP Java SE Programmer II

Hi Alex
congratulations for getting good score in OCP7.
I got my OCAJP certificate in last month. Now Im planning get OCPJP7. But I am quite confused about study guide, which book I should go through. I K&B scjp 6 book is good, but it covers only few topics of OCPJP7.
can you suggest me which books are good for preparation.

What (any) kind of programming xp did you have before you started ?
