Hello,

I have been working with EJBs and JPA .

Would like to listen to your advice on the choice of exam from the following

1) EE5 VsEE6 ( some where I get to read that the exam for EE5 has contents from both EE6 exams- EJBS and JPA.If so , what would be the value addition is doing 2 separate exams, I mean topics...etc)
2) if EE6 which one to be taken first

Exams :
EE5 OCP EJBD (1Z0-860)

EE6 OCE EJBD (1Z0-895)
EE6 OCE JPAD (1Z0-898)

Thanks for your time and help.

Regards
Raju

Hello

The BCD5 exam covers both EJB3.0 and JPA1.0

The v6 exams split EJB and JPA into 2 exams covering EJB3.1 and JPA2.0 respectively

Now which version to do is up to you. Yet most people would suggest doing the latest version.

It depends on your comfort level based on the exam objectives and your experience in EJB and/or JPA.

I am in fact currently preparing for BCD5. I chose v5 exam because it covers both tech, able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, company is still using Java EE 5... well there can be a lot of reasons or excuses to do the earlier version.

I am preparing for version 6 of the exam because Frits provides us a good 101 pages study guide and JSR 318 is also a good study guide. This exam is more focus on EJB 3.1 and we don't have to worry about JPA and some other issues in detail like JTA, JTS, JCA, application context container (ACC) ...
I noticed that there are a lot of other topics not covered in version 6 of this exam. So, all we need to do is to focus on stateless, singleton, stateful beans, message driven bean, transaction, timer, security, packaging and etc.

It is up to you to decide.

Preparation time depends on your time and effort. If you are already familiar with the exam topics then probably 3-4months.
