comparisons of true == "true" or 12 == "12"

Hi,
I have some misconception about type conversion happening in comparison operators. During R&D i have found that true == "true" is done based on that Boolean true is converted to Integer and String "true" is converted to NAN. Hence it gives you false.

Let us consider a code snippet.

   12 == "12"       // true
   12 == "12x"    // false

What are the basics of this result ???

I of course welcome correction if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that when you're comparing with == and one operand is a Number and the other is a String, the String is coerced to a Number (then the Numbers' values are compared).

So your statements would be equivalent to the following:

12 == Number('12') // true
12 == Number('12x') // false

This is why most coding conventions recommend the use of === and explicit conversions. Lots of bugs avoided that way.
