Yes, you should install M2Eclipse so you can easily run builds from inside the IDE.

Why don't you try using IntelliJ community edition as it has a much better support for most of the plugins!

Joe,
What specifically do you find better about the Maven support in IntelliJ? A vague comment isn't likely to get someone to switch IDEs.

Did I say about Maven support in IntelliJ? I just said that IntelliJ has much better support in terms of plugins for most of the tools out there. I don't remember, but back in 2008, I was fiddling around with Maven and Eclipse integration and I was not successful. I switched to IntelliJ and never came back to using Eclipse.

No. The original poster asked about Maven in Eclipse. You suggested switching IDEs altogether. I don't think someone should switch IDEs without a specific reason. And the fact that you failed to use Maven four years ago doesn't seem compelling. As a counter example, I use Maven with Eclipse now and it integrates nicely.

May be Maven support in Eclipse got better now. Anyways it was just my experience with Eclipse that put me off and made me switch to IntelliJ. I was just recommending the OP another option.
