Referring to the following example from the "Functional Programming in Scala" book:



A call to the method like:



prints:


How would using lazy val make "hi" printed only once?

I figured it out! I just have to keep in mind the fact that a Function in Scala is translated to a class when compiled. If I apply this principle, the lazy val becomes a field in the class and it evaluated to value 42 and when I call this again the function is not evaluated as there is already a value calculated!
 
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
