when consuming usin WSDL is everything regarding SOAP envelope,Payload automatically taken care of?

I have read about the concept of payloads and envelopes. But when we consume web service, we simply create proxy classes and send request and receive response. So is the complexity of envelope and payload internally taken care off and we do not have to do anything?
