I ordered some electronics from China few weeks back, and while trying to decipher what some of the tracking abbreviations meant, a google search threw up this random tracking page:

Probably faster to go in person

Travelling 4 to 5 hours per day, you could walk that distance in less time (a bit hilly though).

I knew that China and India both have a bit odd-ball time zones but I didn't think they were that ridiculous!

It's these people in the States who have 31 months in the year. That is what confused the delivery drivers.

At this rate, I could probably roll all the way.

Well, I sent a christmas card to a girl in China and I still did not get any response from her either. Mail seems slow there.

My friend sent me once a postcard from China, it took somewhere around 5 weeks to arrive. In comparison, once I sent myself a postcard from Mexico and it took only around 2 weeks. Indeed China seems to have literally snail mail system.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I am located in Germany, Bavaria.

Okay, next time I send her a post card around Christmas, I will make it a Valentine card! Although Chinese new year is on the 8th of February, it might arrive before then. I can make it a happy Chinese Newyear card. Nevetherless since that is actually the Spring Festival, the winter landscape on my card is hopelessly outdated. I hope she will forgive me for it.

Having traveled to many far away and ridiculous small cities/towns, my wife likes to send post cards back home to see how long it takes to arrive.

We never had a case of six months, but we did have a few measured in months, and we had quite a few cases where it wouldn't arrive at all.

We do the same sort of thing; we have a neighbour who collects postcards. But the card must have a map on, not a picture.

At Christmas 1997 I visited my mom in New England. My now-husband and I had just moved to Texas and relatives had given us some nice things for the new house. We had the gifts shipped back to TX via US mail.

We figured the boxes would arrive shortly after we go back home. They didn't.

Numerous inquiries to the Post Office yielded no further information. They had no idea where the boxes were. And insurance was useless -- "Do you have receipts for each time shipped?" "Umm, no, they were gifts."

Sometime in May they magically showed up at our door with paperwork that showed that they'd arrived in Austin two days after being shipped. Where they sat for the intervening 4 months remains a mystery.
