I haven't been in Hong Kong for a while -- is Sham Shui Po still the best place for buying computer components, electronic parts and tools?

I used to go to the Golden Shopping Centre at Kweillin and Fuk Wa and the open market and shops a few blocks away along Apliu Street.

To follow-up on my own post - almost all of the shops which sold components, microcontroller boards and kits, and test equipment are gone now. Lots of shops selling computers, boards, drives, video games, etc., but pretty well nothing for electronics hobbists.

That's surprising...I'd have expected people selling stuff to makers to be thriving nowadays. Everyone shifted across the border to Shenzhen?

If memory serves, the last time I was in Shenzhen (a few years ago), I noticed quite a few stores that sold electronic parts. And they were all in the same neighborhood...

I guess for stuff like this, a single store may not be enough to bring in enough foot traffic anymore.
