Hi
Just cleared
JAVA OCP SE 8 exam with 82%. It took me around 2-3 months to prepare for the exam. Started studying for the exam in January itself.
It is one of the toughest certification I’ve attempted, only because it has loads of concepts to understand.
A brief idea about the preparation :
• Studied from OCP Study Guide(Kindle edition) and took notes for each chapter for quick reference.
• Then practiced writing programs for each concept with multiple combinations to get the basics right.
• Revised the OCA concepts from OCA Study Guide.
• Took Sybex Practice
Test and Flashcard revision. Flashcard revision was not very helpful because the level of difficulty was too easy, and I expected the level to increase after each set.
• At the end took Enthuware Mock Tests.(This helped me a lot, as it gave me an idea how the questions will be framed, understanding a few concepts in depth especially for those questions which were incorrect on the mock test).
While taking the mock test
you should start reasoning why an option is correct/ incorrect. It would be helpful if you could map the correct option with the related concept in detail.
And don’t forget to review both correct and incorrect questions after the exam.
OCP is tougher than the OCA exam. But scoring 65% should be easy, the tough part is to get a good score.
God Bless
Kind Regards
