I have an Oracle-based application called Orion.
Previously, it was running on Windows 2000 Server SP2. After upgrading to SP4, client computers could not access the Orion program anymore. The program was running on the server, though.
I noticed four services which may have been affected by the upgrade:
Networker Remote Exec Service
OracleOrahome81TNSListerner
Storage Management Portmapper
Networker Backup and Recover Server
I arranged them according to the error messages that appeared in the System Log of Event Viewer.
All four have identical error messages, an example of which follows:
Could not start the Networker Remote Exec Service service on Local Computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the specified path.
I have tried several common troubleshooting procedures, like restarting the server, starting the affected services manually, reinstalling SP4, and the like, all to no avail.
I have also done some research on the Internet on how to fix this problem (hence I found your forum), but, so far, could not find much information about it.
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
PS: I don't know if this is related, but Internet Explorer 6 SP1 is not working as well. I am getting an error message when opening any website.
I know that the network connection is working because I can ping other PC's on the network.
