access denied starting tomcat 4 in linux

this happen with all .sh files in CATALINA_HOME/bin,
i try as root, non-root and get always the same.
my jdk is v1.3.1_02 and use conectiva linux 8
if anyone can helpme with any ideas..

That's a question that would get more responses in the Linux/Unix forum.
Probably you just don't have the "execute" bit set on your scripts.
Try "chmod +x *.sh" and then see what happens.
