Error while running a servlet

Sir,
I am getting the following error while running a servlet "package javax.servlet does not exist". How to solve that?? I have installed Tomcat 4.1. please help me.

That package is in servlet.jar - obviously some process is not finding it. Every servlet needs to use it so if Tomcat is running and you can see the example servlets and jsp, it must be there. Exactly when do you see the error?
