I have tried to install tomcat's latest stable version. I have done this many a times with previous versions with no problems. Now when I startup tomcat an error is thrown and the window quickly closes. No errors are thrown in the log.
How would I go about redirecting the error stream?
What would i need to include in the server.xml file do such a thing?

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
